Dogs Trust 'Mammy of the Year' says a few words!

Hi guys,
My name is Faye.  I’m a 3 year old Lurcher cross. I was abandoned because I was pregnant and came into Dogs Trust from Carlow Kilkenny Dog Pound in July. I settled in well in Dogs Trust and the staff made me as comfortable as possible in the lead up to the big day. When the time came to have my babies the dedicated team at Dogs Trust stayed late into the evening to help with my delivery. Little did they know what was about to happen. I went into labour early afternoon delivering Cara my 1st pup naturally at 4p.m, however, I got into difficulty on my 2nd pup and the on site veterinary team in Dogs Trust intervened and the remainder were born by C-section.  In the end I had 15 puppies, the largest ever litter in Dogs Trust!

The next few days are a bit of a blur to be honest, 3 different staff in Dogs Trust took 4 of my puppies home every night and fed them every 2 hours. During the day we would do a rota where I would feed 4 pups myself and the rest would be hand fed by the staff and then come back to me a little later - that way all the puppies got their turn snuggling up with me!  It was tough going but we got through it as a team :-)

Thankfully all of my babies have gone to loving homes, 1 of them to the big home in the sky and the rest to families who truly adore them. I’ve even bumped into one or two of them on a recent sight hound stroll!  Me, I’m still waiting in Dogs Trust for my forever home. I know it will come soon - not to blow my own trumpet but they say I’ve stolen the hearts of the puppy carers as I’m polite, sweet natured, really affectionate and have a beautiful soul.  I really just want to snuggle up on a big sofa with plenty to occupy me and will even try and fit on people’s laps for cuddles if they will let me!  I’ve heard the staff saying to each other that it’s possible that I have never been in a home or loved as a family member.  It’s true, so I think I will need plenty of time to settle in and adjust to my new home.

I like hanging out with kids 10+ as well as other doggies, especially my pal Buddy Casper, he’s a real hoot and makes me laugh.   I guess I just want to say thank you to everybody in Dogs Trust for truly going above and beyond the call of duty to look after me and my babies, for finding them all loving homes and for continuing to look for my perfect forever home, love Faye xxx
